In lieu of trying to belong to any number of societies: Chesterton, Sherlock Holmes, the Inklings, and so on: I propose and establish one of my own. Don your intelligence cap at the door; dust off your logic and imagination; did you bring your inspiration and encouragement? We are shapers, my friends; lit lamps; light-bringers. Bring quotes; poetry should be uplifting and thoughtful, or witty and clever, (or both). Humor is encouraged; laughter is invited back. Pull up a chair. Anyone for tea?

A bedroom project

With many a proper mug of tea, a snack or two, and a rush of pre-spring vigour, I dove into the cleaning of my room as I haven't done in a very long time.  This may indeed have been the most thorough go-through since I moved into my room.  I went through drawers, took everything off the surfaces, piling all the books on the floor that didn't have specific shelves.  I put up the art that has been waiting for months to hang on my wall, redecorated the surfaces, and even painted some accessories.
I also painted the patch of ceiling in the stairway to my attic to look like the night sky.  I painted most of the clouds and things with my fingers, and put in the rest of the stars with a metallic silver marker; the sky looks a bit bluer in person.

I listened to Great Expectations while cleaning and redecorating...

Look at that beautiful nautical wall-art.  Thanks Caleb!

And under the new night sky, I stacked my extra books on the stairs...
draped them with fairy-lights...
and stuck up even more quotes, maps and pictures on the wall
oh yes! and painted in the words above the door.

Perhaps your most swoon-worthy post to date. The twinkly lights, the lovely blue of your walls, the books!!!!! I am in love with your faux night sky. And does it make me a horrible mother that I am supremely jealous at the thought the Lyndsay will be staring up at said sky in less than three weeks? I want to come and see you all so badly......

Wish you were coming too Auntie Meredith, and all your lovely family! And doubtless Lyndsay will take some pictures? I am very glad for my happy room--so blessed to have such a canvas for creativity... So glad you enjoyed the post.

Livi, I know it seems like we've been saying this for the past few years, but we really do hope to come up. Until now, it has only been a hope, but we have been able to set aside some money, and it looks like we may actually be making the trip by year's end, if that will work with your family's plans. Pray.

Lovely! I can't wait to behold it. Those days of investing in our given spaces and creating more beauty are so splendid - dreamy.
Your night sky is stunning.
