In lieu of trying to belong to any number of societies: Chesterton, Sherlock Holmes, the Inklings, and so on: I propose and establish one of my own. Don your intelligence cap at the door; dust off your logic and imagination; did you bring your inspiration and encouragement? We are shapers, my friends; lit lamps; light-bringers. Bring quotes; poetry should be uplifting and thoughtful, or witty and clever, (or both). Humor is encouraged; laughter is invited back. Pull up a chair. Anyone for tea?

Settling in

Hullo, my friends! Yes, we are actually living in our new little home. It really is an adorable house. I think there is just enough room for everything, if things are in their place, which ~of course~ they aren't yet. . . So things are still pretty chaotic around here, not to mention the annual bout of influenza that keeps at least a couple of us down at a time. Little by little things are getting done; many of our to-dos are interdependent and so take more thought and time. For instance: the closets need their painting finished before our clothes go in them properly, and the attic needs to be cleaned before the attic things can get out of my room.

But I am very pleased with our progress, and with the entirely lovable house we have been blessed with. Even without all of our stuff in it yet, and certainly not completely situated, it has comfort and beauty. I would love to share pictures of our new corners and decorated nooks, but I haven't the camera at my disposal just now. To come shortly, I promise.

The sunshine that is so welcome these chill days comes streaming through new kitchen curtains and through the blue cloths and lace on my south window. Katie, now that we live in her very own town, came by for an afternoon to enjoy some time and work with us and slowly but surely we are unpacking books; both in the livingroom and my own room. Now for the delightful task of finding out where all of them will go!

So do I! I'm missing summer colors alot. It's about time to peruse the garden catalogues again. Maybe sometime when you come over!
